Acriflavine in Glycerine 1:1000 is a topical antiseptic solution containing 0.1% acriflavine hydrochloride in pure glycerin. This formulation is effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria and is suitable for the treatment of contaminated or suppurating wounds in animals. The glycerin component acts as an emollient and hygroscopic agent, promoting wound drainage and reducing local swelling when applied with well-padded bandages. This compound has been utilized in veterinary practices for over five decades for managing contaminated and infected wounds.
